Madison Huggman named Frog Festival Junior Queen
Madison Alden Huffman, 12-year-old daughter of Jennifer Vincent of Ragley, was crowned Rayne’s 2011-2012 Frog Festival Junior Queen Saturday morning during the annual pageant held at the Rayne Civic Center.
The new Junior Queen is a seventh grade student at South Beauregard Junior High School.
She was crowned by last year’s honoree, Lexie Comeaux.
The 10 a.m. pageant was again hosted by ladies of Preceptor Alpha Chi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Emcee was Cheryl Richard, Rayne’s Cultural Director.
The competition consisted of informal interview and formal gown. Royal properties awarded included a beautiful customized frog crown, banner, engraved silver tray and velvet cape, 1st Maid – banner and 2nd Maid – banner.
Named First Maid was Alyssa Morgan, 10-year-old daughter of James and Christy Morgan of Lafayette. She is a fifth grade student at St. Pius Elementary.
Second Maid was Faith Michelle Guidry, 11-year-old daughter of Chad and Dawn Guidry of Breaux Bridge. She is a sixth grade student at Cecilia Junior High School.
Junior Queen contestants included:
Destanee Breaux, 11-year-old daughter of Kenneth and Amy Breaux of Breaux Bridge and sixth grader at Cecilia Junior High School.
Meka Renee Cormier, 12-year-old daughter of Doug and JoAnn Cormier of Sunset and sixth grader at Mire Elementary.
Hannah Paige McKenzie, 10-year-old daughter of Joseph McKenzie and Margaret Menard of Rayne and a fifth grader at South Rayne Elementary.
Remi Winchester, 12-year-old daughter of Monte and Missy Winchester of Rayne and seventh grader at Mire Elementary.
Judges for the contest were Chad Terro of Lafayette, Tim Guidry of Abbeville and Amanda Thille of Ville Platte.
