MAMOU - The Mamou Police Department arrested one individual Friday, March 13, due to its undercover operations and investigations.

Akeem Williams, 19, 1067 Shorty Lane, Mamou, was charged with two counts of distribution of marijuana.

Detective Caleb Semien said William’s arrest was part of an undercover investigation and purchase. His alleged illegal narcotic activity was discovered through investigations and officers working on the street.

“We put a bait out on a hook and see what we catch,” Semien said.

Williams remained incarcerated in the Mamou Jail at press time.

Police Chief Greg Dupuis urges all residents to report suspicious activity to the police department at 468-5221. All callers will remain anonymous.
