The Mamou Town Council approved several personnel recommendations made by Police Chief Greg Dupuis during its meeting Wednesday, December 3.
Dupuis recommended the council approve a pay increase for Keisha Manuel, who was taking on additional duties in the department. He recommended a raise of $1 per hour, bringing Manuel up to $8.88 per hour.
The second recommendation was for Charles “Tiny” Israel to be hired as the town’s part-time crossing guard. The crossing guard directs traffic on Sixth Street when students begin leaving school at 3 p.m.
The final recommendation was to hire Alexis Ortego as a part-time clerical worker.
All three recommendations were unanimously approved by the council.
The council also met in a lengthy executive session to discuss strategic planning regarding the lease of the Savoy Medical Center. No action was taken.
