One woman was arrested recently in Mamou after allegedly stabbing another woman with a nail file in the arm three times.
Brenda Ann Raney, 48, 204 Maple St., Mamou, was charged with aggravated battery April 16, after officers responded to a call at a local lounge where an altercation had taken place.
Detective Todd Ortis said the altercation between Raney and another female allegedly started in the lounge and then moved outside. After exchanging words, Ortis said Raney allegedly produced a nail file and lunged at the victim, causing three puncture wounds in the victims arm.
The victim was interviewed and received medical attention. Officers quickly located Raney and arrested her without incident. Patrolmen, according to Ortis, attempted to locate the nail file, but were unable to do so in the dark. The search for the nail file is ongoing.
Raney was transported to the Evangeline Parish Jail, where her bond was set at $10,000.
