Maridell Atkinson Jones, 82, beloved mother and friend, left this earth to meet her Master on July 9, 2009.
She was residing at the home of her daughter in San Antonio, Texas. She was born July 11, 1927 in Crowley, to Joe and Eve Atkinson.
Maridell was a faithful member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church for many years, before moving to San Antonio, Texas to be near her children.
Maridell was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie John Jones; one son, Michael Jones; a granddaughter Tara Jones; her parents; six brothers, Enos Gigout, Joseph L. Atkinson, Sr., Stanley L. Atkinson, Wilson G. Atkinson, Francis V. Atkinson, and David E. Atkinson; and four sisters, Ruby Ella Atkinson, Mabel A. Faulk, Florence A. Nelson, and Eva A. Hayes.
Survivors include a son, Tom Jones and his wife Twyla; a daughter, Jessica and her husband Don; a granddaughter Ericka; a grandson, Michael; and two great grandchildren all of San Antonio, Texas. One sister, Ruth A. Henry of Lafayette; a brother, John C. Atkinson and his wife Nolia of Lyons Point; and many family members and friends.
Rev. Charles Floyd, Pastor of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, will officiate for a memorial service Sunday, August 2, at 2 p.m. at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church. The Ebenezer United Methodist Church is located at 2205 Ebenezer Road, Crowley.
