Marie Citizen Valair
IOTA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iota for Marie Citizen Valair, 89, who died April 17, 2009 at Meadowbrook Specialty Hospital in Lafayette.
Fr. Mikel Polson will be officiating for the services. The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Monday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to the time of service. Rosaries will be recited at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Monday at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
She is survived by four daughters, Mary Guillory and husband George of Iota, Veronica Bolden of Houston, June Marie Valair of Iota, and Jacqueline Balzano of Tucson, Arizona; five sons, Thomas Murphy Valair and wife Hannalore of Alexandria, Tim Martin Valair and wife Theresa of Church Point, John Hilton Valair and wife Clotilde of Iota, Van Valair and Velton Valair both of Iota; two sisters, Hilda Landry of Church Point and Agnes Cane of Lake Charles; two daughters-in-law, Betty Valair and Catherine Valair both of Crowley; twenty grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Valair is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Valair; her parents, William and Agatha Hebert Citizen; two daughters, Janell Valair and Jeralyn Valair; one son, Edward Valair; one son-in-law Southern Bolden; four sisters; and four brothers.
