The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested one and is looking for another in two unrelated cases this week.
Bianca Monae Thomas, 18 (dob 10-31-90), of Ville Platte, is being sought by the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office for allegedly depositing marijuana at the jail when she brought an inmate items Tuesday, April 7.
Captain Keith Dupre, chief of detectives, said Deputy Tommy Mayer intercepted the package and discovered the marijuana. Thomas had already left the area. He said as a result, a warrant has been issued for Thomas for attempting to smuggle marijuana into the parish jail. Once found, she will be charged with bringing contraband into a jail facility.
The second case involves an incident which took place recently in the Lake Cove area. Dupre said a steel chain saw was stolen, along with some other items. The department received some information regarding where the saw was located, and Detective Kevin Tate and Sgt. Travis Basco went to investigate.
Upon arriving at Mark Catoire’s residence, deputies located the saw. As a result, a warrant was issued for Catoire, 40, 2293 Hampton Dupre Road, Ville Platte, Wednesday, April 8. He will be charged with possession of stolen items.
Dupre said the investigation continues.
If anyone knows the whereabouts of Thomas or Catoire, they are asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 363-2161 and ask to speak to a detective. Sheriff Eddie Soileau said all callers will remain anonymous.
