The Mamou Police Department arrested two individuals on charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana after locating approximately a half-pound of marijuana at a Mamou residence.

Detective Caleb Semien said the department received information from an anonymous source there was a large quantity of marijuana in a home at 416 Third Street in Mamou.

Mamou Police began an investigation and eventually approached the residence and was given consent to search the premises. Semien said officers located half-a-pound of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, including a bong (a water pipe commonly used to smoke marijuana).

Sean Monkhouse, 25, 416 Third St., Mamou, and Cody Porter, 22, 3672 Stagg Ave., Basile, were arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

Anonymous tips can often help officers make these kinds of arrests and Dupuis urges all residents to report any and all suspicious activity to the police department. All callers will remain anonymous.
