Mary Alicia Carriere weds Mark ‘Rick’ Beslin
Mary Alicia Carriere and Mark Frederick “Rick” Beslin were united as husband and wife on Friday, March 30, 2012, during a seven o’clock evening wedding ceremony at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Rayne. Father Dan Edwards officiated the Nuptial Mass ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Glenn and Mary Benoit Carriere of Church Point. Her grandparents are Morris Benoit of Church Point, the late Regina Benoit, and the late Willrey and Eldine Carriere.
She is a 2008 graduate of Church Point High School and graduated from Acadiana Technical College in Lafayette. Mary is presently employed with Shop Rite.
The groom is the son of Mark and Reneé Buller Beslin of Rayne. His grandparents are Charles Buller of Lake Charles, the late Margaret Buller, and Judge Denald and Claire Beslin of Rayne. In memory of his maternal grandmother, Margaret Buller, the groom carried her rosary in his pocket.
He is a 2003 graduate of Notre Dame High School and earned his Bachelor of Arts at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL).
Providing musical selections for the ceremony was Maria Benoit. Megan Begnaud, cousin of the bride, and Regina Buller, godmother of the groom, read the Scriptures. Gifts were offered by Matt Beslin, godfather of the groom, Michael Benoit, godfather of the bride and Barbara Bourque, aunt of the bride.
Escorted by her father, Mary was particularly beautiful in a satin ball gown featuring a beaded lace halter neckline and a full tulle skirt. She chose a simple tiara with an elbow length sheer veil for her headpiece and carried a spring bouquet.
In keeping with tradition, the bride wore a necklace for something old and her dress represented something new. She borrowed a pair of earrings and wore a blue garter.
Maid of honor was Jennifer Beslin, sister of the groom.
Bridesmaids were Theresa Benoit, godmother of the bride; Margaret Beslin, sister of the groom; and Monica Trahan, aunt of the bride.
Leslie Carriere, sister of the bride, was junior bridesmaid.
Bridal attendants wore vintage-style satin tea length dresses in various colors and carried spring bouquets.
Best man was Troy Richison, friend of the groom.
Groomsmen were Joseph Carriere and Ethan Carriere, brothers of the bride; and Anthony Beslin, cousin of the groom.
Seth Carriere, brother of the bride, was junior groomsman.
Ushers were Chad Richard, future brother-in-law of the groom, and Travis Beslin, cousin of the groom.
Ainsley Beslin, cousin of the groom, served as flower girl, who was escorted by the ring bearer, Dallas Beslin, cousin of the groom.
Immediately following the double ring ceremony, a reception was held at the Warehouse Restaurant and Event Center in Rayne in honor of the newlyweds.
Among the refreshments provided for guests was the bridal cake created with several layers and various fillings including chocolate with amaretto mousse filling, and white cake with lemon and strawberry filling. The confection was covered in white icing with colorful scroll details.
The groom’s cake was a Marvel Comics-themed red velvet cake.
Prior to the wedding, a rehearsal dinner, hosted by the parents of the groom, was held at Chef Roy’s Frog City Café in Rayne.
The newlywed couple now resides in Rayne.
