Mayor Greg Jones proclaims January 8, 2010 as National Guard Co C3 – 256IN (L) Day

The Louisiana Army National Guard’s 256th Infantry Brigade Combat Team met at the National Guard Armory Friday morning surrounded by family and friends, as Crowley Mayor Greg Jones read a proclamation designating January 8, 2010 as National Guard Co C3 – 256IN (L) Day prior to their departure for Camp Shelby in Mississippi than to the Middle East to assist with the security mission in the Republic of Iraq and to defend our country and to bring peace to a troubled corner of the world.
Mayor Jones described the scene as, “a somber occasion to see so many family and friends along with well wishers having to wish each other good-bye, so that they can do what has to be done to keep us free.”
In the proclamation Mayor Jones extended appreciation on behalf of the citizens of Crowley and Louisiana saying that, “we are grateful for the service of these soldiers in answering our nation’s call to duty with the highest standards of professionalism and honor.”
He further read that, “we wholeheartedly support and appreciate the brave men and women of the Louisiana National Guard 256th Infantry Brigade for serving in the United States military and wish them safety and success in their dangerous mission and a safe return home.”
In addition Mayor Jones strongly encouraged, “all citizens to join me in this salute as we express our gratitude to those who are serving to protect our nation and its freedom.”
The the uniformed men and women of the 256th Infantry Brigade are once again called upon to offer their utmost skill and devotion to the defence of our country’s freedom. We salute them for their valiant effort and look forward to their return.
