McNeese's Baggett twins earn All-SLC honors

FRISCO, Texas – McNeese State placed three players on the 2011-2012 All-Southland Conference women’s basketball team as announced by the league office here Monday. Junior guard Ashlyn Baggett was named to the first team for the second consecutive year. Junior guard Caitlyn Baggett was named to the second team for the second consecutive year and senior forward Kendra Wells was named to the third team.

Ashlyn leads the Cowgirls and ranks fifth in the league in scoring with 15.8 points per game. She has scored in double figures in 27 games and led McNeese in scoring in 15 games. She is also second on the team with 2.5 assists per game and third in steals with 1.6.

Ashlyn scored her 1,000th career point against LSU earlier this year and is in seventh place on McNeese’s all-time scoring leaders.

Caitlyn leads the team and ranks second in the league with a 39.7 3-point field goal percent. She also leads McNeese and ranks third in the conference with 4.3 assists per game.

Caitlyn also scored her 1,000th career point this season at UT-Arlington. She has scored in double figures in 25 games and is third on McNeese’s all-time career assists leaders and is 12th on the all-time career scoring leaders.
