Menard headlines fight night at Evangeline Downs
OPELOUSAS – Rayne’s Mason Menard will return to the ring Saturday to headline “Knockouts and Payouts 2” at Evangeline Downs.
Menard, the current UBO World Lightweight Champion, will do battle with rugged journeyman Ricky Alexander in an eight-round bout.
Menard enters the contest with a 22-1 record, including 15 knockouts. In his last fight on Oct. 27, 2012, he knocked out Reymundo Hernandez in the first round at the Belle of Baton Rouge Casino.
Alexander enters the bout with a record of 8-10 with six knockouts. The Oklahoma native is coming off a first-round knockout loss to Archie Ray Marquesz on Nov. 17, 2012 at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Albuquerque, N.M.
Another featured bout on the card will pit 2009 USA Olympic alternate Quantis Graves against Martin Verdin in a heavyweight fight.
Baton Rouge’s Justin Thomas will take on Phillip Lar to start the show and K’on Spencer will do battle with Antron Pearson.
Also, Todd Manuel will take on Marcus Clay, Cody Richard puts his undefeated record on the line against Steve Trumble and Chris Singleton will take on Kelvin William.
