Michael Joseph Huesers
CROWLEY - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for Michael Joseph “Mike” Huesers, 89, who died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010 at 9:33 a.m. at Crowley Rehab Hospital.
Mr. Huesers was a native of Egan and a lifelong resident of Crowley. He was a veteran of World War II having served his country in the US Army Air Corp. He was the recipient of two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star. He was a member of Acadia Post 15, American Legion having served on numerous committees and as an officer as well as his service on the American Legion Hospital Board of Directors. He was an active parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church having served on numerous committees and as an usher. He also coached basketball at St. Michael Elementary School from 1965-1969.
Fr. Gary Schexnayder, pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Friday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. A rosary will be recited Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home by Sr. Justina Baker.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum.
Mr. Huesers is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruby Faulk Huesers of Crowley; three daughters, Sandra H. Potier and her husband John Ed of Memphis, Tn., Patty H. Turner of Crowley, Mary H. Stolzle and her husband David of Memphis, Tn.; two sons, Tommy W. Huesers and his wife Odile of Scott, Joe Huesers and his wife Joan of Lafayette; one sister, Margaret H. Potier of Crowley; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Mr. Huesers was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Mary Cecelia Regan Huesers; grandson, Tyson Huesers; son-in-law, Ken Turner; and six brothers, James, Bernard, J. D., Floyd, Andrew and Eugene Huesers.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Huesers, Jason Montz, Jacob Stolzle, Nick Stolzle, David Stolzle, and Greg O’Brien.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church.
The family wishes to thank Theresa Dupuis for all her care and support to Mr. Mike during his time of illness.
