Mildred Mae Humble
GUEYDAN - A mass of Christian burial for Mildred Mae Humble, 73, will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morse on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 1 p.m. with Father Don Pousson and Father David Broussard officiating. Mrs. Humble was called to Heaven on the day she married her beloved husband and best friend of 55 years. She was surrounded by her loving family while she began her journey to our Heavenly Father. Visitation will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Gueydan on Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. and will resume on Saturday at 8 a.m. until the time of her services. A rosary will be recited on Friday evening at 7 p.m. Mrs. Humble will be laid to rest in Hanks Cemetery.
Mildred Mae was born in Morse to Winnie Menard and the late Aneas Richard in May of 1937. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a very devoured Catholic and enjoyed teaching religion to young people. Mildred also was an elector in the church council for many years. She was active in the P.T.O. and was president of the L.A.S. When Mildred wasnít spending time with her family, she enjoyed watching soap operas. She will be greatly missed by everyone for whom she has touched their lives.
Leaving behind to cherish her memories is her beloved husband, John W. Humble of Morse; four children, Bill (Jerrilyn) Humble, Jim (Jill) Humble, Alvin (Roxanne) Humble, and Priscilla (Allen) Carlson all of Morse; her mother, Winnie M. Richard also of Morse; 11 grandchildren, Brandon (Renee) Carlson, Tara (Joe) Patin, Sophie (Terrell) Istre, Alexa, Madison, Tameron, Chris (Leah) Humble, Andrea (Jason) Simon, Richie (Aimee) Humble, William Humble (Rebecca), and Mitchell Leger (Brooke); 15 great grandchildren, Jasi, Raylee, Terrell, Isaiah Istre, Micha, Gabe, Myra, Josie Carlson, Kirsten, Keithen, Kade, Johnny, and Dogan Patin, Alex Simon, and Grant Humble; and two Godchildren, Ronnie Richard and Julian LeBlanc.
She was preceded in death by her father; and one son, Richard Humble
Carrying Mrs. Humble to her eternal resting place will be Brandon Carlson, Chris, Richie, William, and Jim Humble, and Ronnie Richard. Honorary pallbearers will include Julian LeBlanc, Randy, Stewart, and Blake Humble, Joe Patin, Jason Simon, and Terrell Istre.
The gift bearers will be Tara Patin, Sophie Istre, Alexa Humble, and Andrea Simon. The readers will be Juanita Benoit and Margaret Richard
In lieu of flowers, the Humble family request that donations be made to Heart of Hospice, 201 West Vermilion St. Lafayette, LA 70501.
