Minister’s Corner: The father’s love

Member of the Ville Platte Ministerial Alliance

There are a few exceptions, but generally speaking, the moment our children come into the world, we love them. He or she has done nothing to earn our love, but as parents, we love them anyway, simply because they are our children. And the fact is we will continue to love them no matter what. This is unconditional love, and virtually all parents have it. If you’re a parent, think of the love you have for your children and realize this: this is the best human example of God’s love for us. It’s not based on performance or merit. It’s based on the fact we are His.

Our heavenly father expressed his love for us again and again. Even in the Garden of Eden, when Adam and Eve had sinned, God took care of them. He made the clothes for them. And we can find countless scripture affirming God’s love. But, his ultimate act of love was sending his son, Jesus Christ, into the world to die for our sins. No greater act of love has ever been performed and yet there are those people who doubt God loves them. Put your doubt to rest.

On this Father’s Day, remember your earthly father and the sacrifices and love he has shown to you. But in the process, remember your heavenly father has sacrificed so much more for you because he loves you that much.
