Proposed Budget FYE 06/30/09.

Mayor Goldsby presented the proposed budget FYE 06/30/09 to the council for consideration, adding that a public hearing will be held in November. Mayor Goldsby stated that the proposed budget is the same as previously submitted. Mr. Daniels said the council made changes to the budget at the August 5, 2008 meeting, which was a legal meeting, and suggested those changes be in this proposed budget. Ms. Lee said the town has requested an attorney general’s opinion on the validity of the changes made to the proposed budget at the August 5, 2008 meeting.

Mayor Goldsby said the council must adopt the proposed budget, then amend it, rather than accept amendments before the proposed budget is adopted. Mayor Goldsby said in the past he has allowed the council to make changes and he allowed those changes to be included in the budget.
