Minutes Special Meeting Town of Amite City

December 29, 2008

7:00 p.m.

The Mayor and the City Council for the Town of Amite City, Louisiana came together in a special session this 29th day of December 2008 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held in the meeting room of City Hall, 212 E. Oak Street, Amite, Louisiana. Mayor Goldsby called the meeting to order and asked Ms. Lee for roll call. The following were present: R. E. Goldsby, M.D., Mayor; Mayor Pro Tem Mark Vining, Council members Rose Sumrall, Walter Daniels III and Jonathon Foster. Absent: H. L. “Buddy” Till, Jr.

Mayor Goldsby said the swearing in ceremony will be held Friday, January 2, 2009 at 12 Noon at City Hall.

To Set Agenda for January 6, 2009 Regular Meeting (No action taken):

Mayor Goldsby – Gasoline Bids.

Mayor Goldsby – Resolution No. 1 – 2009 – Cooperative Endeavor Agreement by and Between the Department of the Treasury, State of Louisiana.

Mayor Goldsby – Amendment to Town of Amite, Code of Ordinances, Section 6-2021 –

6-2023 Article B. Community Center.

Chief Trabona asked that the ordinance include a provision requiring renters that plan to serve alcohol hire two off-duty Amite Police Officers at $20 an hour.

Mr. Vining – Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Vining – Police and Fire Matters.

Mr. Vining – Tangipahoa Parish Library.

Mr. Vining – Burned Houses.

Mr. Vining – Debris Ordinance.

Discussion followed on amending the debris ordinance and the cost and scheduling of emergency debris removal.

Mr. Vining – Emergency Fund.

Mr. Daniels – Ordinance Establishing term of Mayor Pro-tem.

Mr. Daniels – Amendment to Town of Amite, Code of Ordinances, Section 2-1006, Compensation.

Mr. Daniels – Amendment to Town of Amite, Code of Ordinances, Section 2-2002, Compensation.

Mr. Daniels – Sewer and Water Taps.

Discussion followed on mobile home permits and water and sewer taps.

Mr. Daniels – Drainage.

Mr. Daniels – New Businesses.

Mr. Foster – Traffic.

Mr. Foster – Surveillance Cameras.

Mrs. Sumrall – Debris Management.

Mrs. Sumrall – Hardy Street Canal.

Mrs. Sumrall – Soccer Field Concession Stand.

Mr. Vining moved and Mrs. Sumrall seconded to adjourn. Motion carried without opposition.
