MINUTES OF T. P. RURAL FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT NO. 2

November 24, 2008

The Commissioners of T. P. Rural Fire Protection District No. 2 met in REGULAR SESSION on Monday, November 24, 2008, immediately following the meeting of the Tangipahoa Parish Council at the Tangipahoa Parish Courthouse Annex at 206 East Mulberry Street, Amite, Louisiana and was called to order by Carlo S. Bruno, President.

The following members were present:

Tom Tolar, Tennis Rick, Michael Petitto, Carlo S. Bruno, Howard G. "Buddy" Ridgel, Carlos Notariano, Ronnie Bankston, Lionell Wells, Debbie Edwards and Bobby Cortez

Absent: None.

Adoption of Minutes - A motion was made by Mr. Petitto and seconded by Mr. Cortez to adopt the minutes of the Regular Meeting dated October 27, 2008 and Special Meeting dated November 5, 2008 and that they be dispensed and published in the Official Journal. With no opposition, motion carried.

Public Input - Anyone Wishing To Address Any Agenda Item - No one from the public asked to address any agenda item.

Wilmer Fire Matters

1) Declare 1976 Ford as Surplus and Approval to Go out on Bids for Sell Thereof - A motion was made by Mr. Tolar and seconded by Mr. Rick to declare the 1976 Ford as surplus and approve going out on bid for the sell thereof at a minimum of $500.00. Roll-call vote was as follows:

Yeas: 10 (Tolar, Rick, Petitto, Bruno, Ridgel, Bankston, Wells, Notariano, Edwards, Cortez)

Nays: None

Absent: None

A motion was made by Mr. Tolar and seconded by Mr. Rick to accept the donation of the 1984 Ford from the Wilmer Fire Department to T. P. Rural Fire District No. 2. Roll-call vote was as follows:

Yeas: 10 (Tolar, Rick, Petitto, Bruno, Ridgel, Bankston, Wells, Notariano, Edwards, Cortez)

Nays: None

Absent: None

Mr. Bruno noted that the fire rating for Wilmer went from a 4 to a 5 and asked Mr. Larry Bankston for an explanation. Mr. Bankston stated it was due to a delay in calls to 911.

Husser Fire Matters

1) Ratify Bids for Approval for Sell of 1976 Ford Mini Pumper - The Secretary made known the 1976 Ford Mini Pumper of the Husser Fire Department has been declared surplus and approved for demolition since no bids were received but now there's an interested buyer.

A motion was made by Mr. Cortez and seconded by Mr. Rick to approve and ratify the Secretary's bid on the 1976 Ford Mini Pumper for a minimum bid of $501.00. Roll-call vote was as follows:

Yeas: 10 (Tolar, Rick, Petitto, Bruno, Ridgel, Bankston, Wells, Notariano, Edwards, Cortez)

Ponchatoula Fire Matters

1) Discussion of Repairs for Central Fire Station Roof - Pulled.

Kentwood Fire Matters

1) Discussion of Land Clearing Quotes - Chief Tommy Simmons presented the three following quotes for clearing the land for a new fire station:

M/S Dozer & Trackhoe Service - Matthew Simean $ 8,500.00

Kenneth Travis Contractor, Inc. $ 14,978.00

Mack's Trucking of Independence, LLC $114,000.00

A motion was made by Mr. Tolar and seconded by Mr. Rick to accept the low bid of M/S Dozer & Trackhoe Service for $8,500.00 as presented and recommended by Chief Simmons. Roll-call vote was as follows:

Yeas: 10 (Tolar, Rick, Petitto, Bruno, Ridgel, Bankston, Wells, Notariano, Edwards, Cortez)

Nays: None

Absent: None

Election of 2009 Officers for T. P. Rural Fire District No. 2 - A motion was made by Mr. Ridgel and seconded by Mr. Cortez to elect Mr. Tom Tolar as President of T. P. Rural Fire District No. 2 for 2009. A motion was made by Mr. Wells and seconded by Mr. Notariano to close the nominations.

A motion was made by Mr. Notariano and seconded by Mr. Cortez to elect Mr. Buddy Ridgel as Vice-President of T. P. Rural Fire District No. 2 for 2009. A motion was made by Mr. Tolar and seconded by Mr. Rick to close the nominations.

A motion was made by Mr. Wells and seconded by Mr. Ridgel to elect Ms. Margie Allen as Secretary of T. P. Rural Fire District No. 2 for 2009. A motion was made by Mr. Cortez and seconded by Mr. Ridgel to close the nominations.

A motion was made by Mr. Ridgel and seconded by Mr. Wells to elect Ms. Jenny Baker as Treasurer of T. P. Rural Fire District No. 2 for 2009. A motion was made by Mr. Cortez and seconded by Ms. Edwards to close the nominations.

A motion was made by Mr. Cortez and seconded by Ms. Edwards to elect Ms. Carla Tate as Assistant Secretary of T. P. Rural Fire District No. 2 for 2009. A motion was made by Mr. Wells and seconded by Mr. Petitto to close the nominations.

The following were elected by acclamation:

President - Mr. Tom Tolar

Vice-President - Mr. Buddy Ridgel

Secretary - Ms. Margie Allen

Treasurer - Ms. Jenny Baker

Assistant Secretary - Ms. Carla Tate

Other Fire Matters -

Manchac Fire Matters - The following statement was read into the minutes:

The records from Manchac Volunteer Fire Department were accepted by the TPRFD2 - no action taken.

With no other business appearing, on motion by Mr. Cortez and seconded by Mr. Notariano, the Tangipahoa Parish Rural Fire District No. 2 adjourned.
