Miss Rayne Pageant set Saturday
The Miss Rayne competition, sponsored by the City of Rayne, will be held Saturday, Aug. 1, at 6 p.m. at the Rayne Civic Center.
Advance tickets costing $5.00 are on sale at the Bernard-Bertrand House and through Miss Rayne contestants. Tickets will be available at the door at a cost of $8.00 per person.
Miss Rayne contestants have been busy in the last few weeks preparing for competition and attended an orientation session, enjoyed a poolside party and had fun with a hair/makeup/modeling tips seminar conducted by Cultural Director Cheryl McCarty.
The competition for Miss Rayne 2009 consists of the following segments:
• Interview (which was held this past weekend),
• Sportswear and Introductions, with a western themed dance number choreographed by Tina Derouen,
• Eveninggown and an on-stage conversation with Mayor Jim Petitjean.
Royal properties being awarded for Miss Rayne 2009 are a seven inch, customized Supreme Crown, banner, engraved silver tray, a $1,000 scholarship upon successful completion of her reign, (awarded upon verification of enrollment at an accredited educational institution of higher learning) and entry to Frog Festival Queen’s Pageant in 2010,
Princess awards are as follows:
Princess to Festival Ray*la*ne, petite crown and banner;
Princess to International Rice Festival, petite crown and banner;
Princess to Church Point Buggy Festival, petite crown and banner; and
Miss Congeniality, banner, and silver tray.
Of special interest will be the awarding of a People’s Choice Award. People attending will be given the opportunity to vote for a “People’s Choice” (popularity vote) for $1 per vote. The People’s Choice award winner will receive an engraved silver tray.
