More Crazy weeks to come!

Are you surprised? You shouldn’t be! There have been some crazy things happening in college football this season but those who follow the game religiously should know that this stuff is kind of normal.

A few weeks ago four teams in the top ten lost games shaking up the race to Miami and setting the tone for another wire to wire season. And then last week the top three teams in the USA Today Coaches Poll all lost on the same day when Oklahoma, Missouri and LSU all went down in defeat.

But if just last year alone tells us anything it has been proven before that it may very well come down to whose still standing and which teams have taken on the heavyweights and not the lightweights of College Football!

In 2007 Ohio State lost their second to the last game of the regular season but still got back into the title game and LSU entered the final week of the season before all bowl bids were released and climbed from #7 to #2 to make a title game appearance down in the “Big Easy.”

So that right there is proof that anything can, will and has happened in the college ranks over the last several years and this year should be no different.

The Big Chief’s Top 10

Alabama – Granted they were off and granted they struggled against Kentucky but if the SEC is the best conference in the nation, which I think it is then why would I penalize the Tide for playing against one of their own? If Alabama is really #1, they will have to prove in Baton Rouge on November 8th!

Texas – I said two weeks ago that if Texas goes through a crucial stretch that included Oklahoma and includes Missouri, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech without losing a game I would rank them above anyone in the nation. I have not changed my mind.

Penn State – The Lions are for real and after a 48-7 win over Wisconsin they could have a clear path to a spot in the BCS Game with a win over Ohio State in two weeks. Watch out Michigan this week. The Lions have lost nine straight to the Wolverines and that kind of stat plays mind games on teams.

Florida – I thought going into the season that Florida would become the best team in the nation and I still feel that they will. If the Gators dangerous offense meets its full potential there is not a team in the country that will be able to defend this group.

Oklahoma – The Sooners did not play bad against Texas and with Oklahoma State’s win over Missouri the Sooners are in much better shape than most expected after a loss on their schedule.

USC – They just keep hanging around and hanging around and now they will just win and watch others fall and keep climbing the charts.

Oklahoma State – The Cowboys are another team that will face some solid ranked teams and that gives them a real good shot to get to Miami if they win out and go undefeated.

Texas Tech – I think that Texas Tech is a very good team, but because they have never really played solid defense many people, including myself think that this team won’t get to the BCS Title Game?

Georgia - The Bulldogs need LSU to win this week and they need to win the SEC East to have any shot at the title. And if that happens then the Bulldogs would have bitten the Gators and all of those clad in Black and Red will have won two straight over their rivals in the SEC East.

Missouri – If the pollsters will not show respect to teams like Utah and BYU then why should the media? Missouri is a team that can get to Miami with one loss on their schedule. Teams like BYU and Utah may need the guys in front of them to lose two games to have a shot.
