More drug dealers arrested
Rayne Police officers arrested three local men who have extensive criminal histories and prior drug convictions.
Two of the three men are twin brotherss, Milton and Wilton Paddio B/M, Dob 3/1/1983 of 940 E. Branche St., and the third man is Kellerick Geraymond Mott, B/M, 10/7/1978 of 608 East Jeff Davis, Rayne.
On April 10, 2009, Rayne Police officers conducted an investigation on the occupants of a vehicle parked on the Day’s Inn parking lot. One of the occupants, Wilton Paddio, was wanted for a Parole Warrant after violating his parole contract.
As the officers approached the vehicle, the driver, Kellerick Mott, attempted to discard Codeine Syrup, which is a Schedule II controlled substance. Mott was arrested for possession of a schedule II drug: codeine, drug paraphernalia, money derived from drug sales and obstruction of justice for pouring out and destroying evidence of a criminal activity.
Milton and Wilton were also arrested for Possession of Schedule II CDS: codeine, money derived from drug proceeds and drug paraphernalia due to a digital scale with marijuana residue being found in the vehicle.
The Rayne Police Department seized $5,148 from the trio during the investigation and is moving for civil forfeiture of the money.
Rayne Police Chief Carroll Stelly states this is a very useful tool in the fight against drug dealers. He added, “Many drug dealers would rather go to jail than lose their money, so it really hurts them and hopefully will force them to pursue legal sources of income.”
