Morris “Sonny Boy” Guidry
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Crowley for Morris “Sonny Boy” Guidry, 81, who died at 7:25 p.m., Tuesday, November 9, 2009 in Lafayette.
Fr. Gregory Cormier will celebrate the Mass and the committal services at the Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation may be observed from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. until service time on Thursday. The Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Sonny Boy was born July 1, 1928 in New Orleans to the late Morris, Sr. and Adia Frederick Guidry. He was a veteran of the Korean War and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a mailman and clerk for the United States Postal Service in Crowley and Lafayette before retiring in 1990. He was member of American Legion Post 15 of Crowley.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce Armentor Guidry; three sons, Lawrence Michael Guidry and wife Cynthia of Katy, Texas, Dale A. Guidry of Spring, Texas and Terry J. Guidry of Lafayette; one sister, Barbara Singletary of Point Blank, Texas and a granddaughter Amanda Sands and her husband Bill of Orlando, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerry J. Guidry.
