Mosley Family Reunion
Descendants of Dewey and Viola Brown Mosley gathered the weekend of Aug. 7-8, 2010 for a family reunion attended by over 100 family members.
Dewey was born and raised in Maynard, Texas, and Viola in New Iberia. They were the parents of James D. Mosley of Rayne, late Albert D. Mosley, Lionel Mosley of Marina, Calif., Annie M. McBeth of Galveston, Texas, Arthur Mosley of Texas City, Texas, late Eldora M. MItchell, late Franklin Mosley, Betthy M. Thomas of Galveston, Texas, late Ella Faye Mosley, late Bertha M. Allen, and Flora M. Thomas of Galveston, Texas.
Their grandchildren number 45 in all.
Members of the oldest generation in attendance for the reunion were James D. Mosley, Annie M. McBeth, Arthur Mosley, Betty M. Thomas and Flora M. Thomas.
The eldest family member in attendance was 86-year-old James D. Mosley of Rayne.
Four-month-old Xavier Britton, son of Chloe Britton of Houston, Texas, was the youngest family member in attendance.
Traveling the farthest to attend the reunion was Michelle Mosley of Jamaica, NY.
Saturday events were staged at Mauboulas Park, with guests served hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos, red beans and rice.
Sunday activities were held at the Knights of Columbus Hall. The mid-day meal included barbecue with all the side dishes, in addition to a number of desserts and beverages.
A church celebration was also held Sunday at Rayne;s location of Cunningham C.M.E. Church.
Providing entertainment was J.D. Mosley, disc jockey.
Family members and guests attended the reunion from numerous points of Louisiana, Texas and New York.
