Mr. Fruge, Miss Christ joined in marriage
St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou provided the setting for a lovely 2 p.m. ceremony Saturday, January 3, 2009, uniting Miss Chancely Rae Christ and Mr. James “Buddy” Fruge in holy matrimony with Father Bryce Sibley officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Scott and Roxy Christ of Mamou. The groom’s parents are Foster Fruge and Shelly Cortina of Eunice.
The church was decorated with pew markers of red roses and greenery.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride was radiant in her one piece, ivory-colored taffeta gown accented with off-the-shoulder straps and a sweetheart neckline. The waistline was embellished with an ornate design of silver embroidery and crystal beadwork. The gown opened into a full A-line skirt finished with covered buttons trailing down into a cathedral-length train.
The bride carried a bouquet of red roses. A pearl rosary belonging to her great-grandmother was entwined into the bouquet.
Heather Daigle of Mamou served as maid of honor for the special occasion. She wore a pewter-colored, sleeveless, floor-length chiffon gown accented with a charmeuse-colored rounded neckline and a sash at the waistline. She carried a bouquet of red roses.
Bridesmaids were Desi Deshotel, Morgan Guillory and Allie Verrette, all of Mamou, friends of the bride; Jade Deshotel of Mamou, cousin of the bride; and Jamie Fruge of Mamou and Katie Fruge of Basile, sisters of the groom. They were attired identically to the maid of honor.
Miles Johnson of Pine Prairie served as best man for the afternoon ceremony.
Groomsmen were Andre Doucet of Mamou, friend of the groom; Josh Marcantel of Tennessee and Carl Abbott of Eunice, cousins of the groom; Travis Vidrine of Eunice, cousin of the bride; and Hunter Christ and Logan Christ of Mamou, brothers of the bride.
Ushers were Rusty Christ and Jerod Soileau.
Hannah Israel, the bride’s cousin, served as flower girl, while Conner Deshotel, the bride’s godchild, served as ring bearer.
For her daughter’s special day, the bride’s mother selected a metallic, two-piece chiffon gown accented with a beaded neckline and a three-quarter-length sleeve bolero jacket.
The groom’s mother chose a gray and ivory-colored, pinstriped, two-piece suit accented with an ivory-colored blouse and accessories.
A reception followed at the Mamou Recreational Center. The hall was beautifully decorated in a pewter and red theme by Mona Daigle with A Touch of Elegance.
Following a wedding trip to Breckinridge, Colorado, the couple has made their home in Lake Charles.
