Mr. Rotary: Bajat named on Rotary’s national board of directors
Abbeville’s little Rotary Club just got put on the international map thanks to the new appointment of Noel Bajat to the Rotary International Board of Directors. He will be one of 17 to sit on the board.
The news was announced at Wednesday’s weekly meeting.
“I love Rotary,” said Bajat. “I love what it stands for.”
Rotary International is the world’s largest service organization with a membership totaling 1.2 million business and professional leaders.
This organization is governed by a 19 member board of directors, two of whom are the president and president-elect.
As one of the other 17 board members, Noel will bring national and international attention to the Rotary Club of Abbeville, said long-time Abbeville Rotarian Don Chauvin. Typically, Rotary directors will invite other directors into their community bringing an awareness of our Cajun culture in exchange for learning about the other directors’ culture, Chauvin added.
The Rotary International Conference will be held in New Orleans in May of 2011 providing another major opportunity for foreign dignitaries to visit our city.
“As an RI Director, Noel will serve as a Louisiana ambassador of goodwill to all areas of the world,” Chauvin said.
