Museum exhibit to honor St. Leo IV altar servers

The first meeting to plan the German Heritage Museum exhibit honoring all altar servers (present and former) who have served at St. Leo IV Church in Roberts Cove was held Sunday, July 14.

Those present were Herb Gossen, Brent Didier, Steve Zaunbrecher, Gilbert Gossen, Cole Zaunbrecher, Dustin Zaunbrecher, Payton Zaunbrecher, Kortney Zaunbrecher, Ray Olinger, Ralph Gossen, Wilton Gary, Anthony Cramer, Nick Benoit, Joseph Ohlenforst Jr., Charlene Reynolds, Mary Ann Leonards, Josie Thevis and Dot Leger.

Some of the altar boys present at the meeting served for the first time when Father J. William Ohlenforst celebrated his first Mass in December, 1945. Others present served through the ensuing years. One started serving for the first time this year. In all, the group represented a span of 68 years of dedicated service to St. Leo IV Church in Roberts Cove.

They were asked to prepare their stories in writing, as well as submit their 4 x 6 pictures, for the next meeting to be held at the Museum on Sunday, August 11, after 9:00 a.m. Mass. Altar servers who were unable to attend the initial meeting are encouraged to attend the August 11 meeting.
