Naval Academy-bound senior is student of the year

A senior bound for the U.S. Naval Academy has been named Eunice High’s student of the year.

Mitchell Fuselier, the son of Todd and Lisa Fuselier, is set for Navy induction on July 1.

But right now, he’s busy with the high school baseball season, and activities that go along with the last semester of high school.

Among Fuselier’s accomplishments, achievements, and honors:

Boys State Delegate and state officer, Top Cat Award, FBLA District V Laedership Conference awards, Renaissance Club, 1st Team All-District ‘08 football;

‘08 ACE Letterman, US Naval Academy Summer Seminar, Student Council Senate, Quarterback ‘05-’08, Team Captain ‘08, LSUE Literary Rally, Peer Leader, National Honor Society, HOBY Delegate;

Robbie Landreneau Memorial Award for exceptional leadership during the 2008 baseball season, St. Landry Parish Gifted Program participant, Social Studies Fair second place winner

He was nominated for his Academy appointment by Congressman Charles Boustany, Jr.
