NCS Lady Warriors earn 10 spots on 5-C All-District team
CROWLEY – Despite playing with a roster that consisted of a number of underclassmen, including several eighth graders, the Northside Christian Lady Warriors’ softball team battled and overcame adversity all season long.
Northside fought through a tough league slate that included traditional powers St. Joseph and Elizabeth and the Lady Warriors claimed runnerup honors, splitting with both of those teams.
The Lady Warriors were awarded for their efforts recently when the league announced its All-District squad.
Tracie Clement was named the league’s Coach of the Year after leading her squad to a 6-2 district mark.
In addition, six Lady Warriors were named to the league’s first team and four made the second team.
Abigail Mouton was named to the squad at pitcher while Zoie Hanagriff made it at first base.
The Lady Warriors also nailed down two more spots on the infield in shortstop Kallie Shingleton and third baseman Sydney Breaux. Katelyn Jones made the list in the outfield and Brooke Stanford made it as a utility player.
Making the second team were Madisyn Clement at pitcher, Leah Monte at shortstop, Kristen Spell in the outfield and Maddison Conrad at utility.
The Lady Warriors went 14-10 on the season and earned the No. 10 seed in the playoffs where they were eliminated in the regional round by state semifinalist Family Christian.
