ND’s D.J. Welter commits to LSU
Notre Dame’s D.J. Welter traveled to Baton Rouge Tuesday, March 3, 2009, where he met and verbally committed to LSU Head Football Coach Les Miles,
becoming the fifth underclassman to pick the Tigers.
The decision to join Miles’ Tigers came just three days following Saturday’s second academic Junior Day in Baton Rouge.
The junior linebacker who was valuable for the Pioneers this past season during their state runner-up finish, selected LSU over a number of Big 12 and Big 10 Conference teams, but decided to stay close to home with the Tigers.
The 6-1, 220-pounder led the Pios last season with 108 tackles, 51 of them solo, along with 14 stops behind the line, two sacks, and earned Class 3A honorable mention All-State and All-Acadiana honors.
