ND swimmers earn All-District honors
CROWLEY – Notre Dame’s Ben Baker, Keagan Lepretre and Adam Reggie have been named to the 2008 Small School All-District swim team.
Baker placed third in the 100-yard butterfly and fifth in the 100-yard freestyle at the district meet while Lepretre was fourth in the 200-yard freestyle and fifth in the 100-yard butterfly. Reggie placed third in the 200-yard freestyle and second in the 500-yard freestyle.
Also making the team was Crowley native Jacob Meyers. The Episcopal School of Acadiana standout placed fifth in the 200-yard freestyle and third in the 100-yard breaststroke to earn the honor.
In the state meet, Notre Dame’s Matt Soileau was the Pios’ top finisher. Soileau won the state title in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:05.92 and finished fourth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:59.76.
Notre Dame’s 400-yard freestyle relay team of Austin Bailey, William Artall, Ben Baker and Lepretre placed eighth in a time of 4:24.51. Connor Broussard and Bryant Hamic joined Baker and Artall in the 200-yard freestyle relay to take 13th place (1:51.77).
Baker was also ninth in the 100-yard butterfly (1:04.48) while Lepretre was 16th (1:13.36).
Reggie placed 10th in the 500-yard freestyle (6:48.87) and 11th in the 200 freestyle (2:14.66).
Also scoring for the Pios was Andre Trahan with a 12th-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:17.08).
Meyers helped lead ESA to a fifth place overall finish in the Division IV state meet. He swam the second leg on the seventh place 200-yard medley relay team (2:03.88) and the first leg on the 11th place 200-yard freestyle relay (1:59.98). He also took 10th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:17.63).
