Nelson ends her reign as Miss Breaux Bridge
Breaux Bridge – One year ago April Marie Nelson was crowned Miss Breaux Bridge 2007 during the annual pageant held at Marielle’s in Breaux Bridge.
During the past year Nelson traveled to numerous fairs, festivals and pageants representing her hometown.
Nelson said “It has been an amazing journey, I met many wonderful people and experienced some of the diverse cultures in Louisiana.”
One of her most memorable experiences was attending the Shrimp Festival, where she took a tour of a shrimp boat and saw firsthand how shrimp is processed.
Volunteering at the Louisiana Regional Special Olympics, where she met Ronald McDonald was one of the most enjoyable events she experienced.
Miss Breaux Bridge and her crawfish Billy won first place in the Crawfish races held at the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival.
Nelson said she truly enjoyed traveling the state as a Louisiana queen. She is the daughter of Albert Nelson of Breaux Bridge and Annette Nelson of Cypress Island.
