New Frog Festival royalty to be named

Frog Festival Queen & Teen

Young ladies interested in competing for the title of 2009 Frog Festival Queen or Teen Frog Festival Queen are being invited to the pageant competition on Saturday, Aug. 22, at 5 p.m. at the Rayne Civic Center


To be eligible to compete for the title of Frog Festival royalty, entrants must:

(1) be 17 years old on or before the day of competition and not older than 23 years of age for the Miss division and between the ages of 13 and 16 for the Teen division; (2) be single and have never been married or had a marriage annulled; (3) not be pregnant or have never borne a child; (4) be of good moral character and never been convicted of any felony.

Jr. Frog Festival Queen

Preceptor Alpha Chi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, hosts of the annual Frog Festival Junior Queen’s Contest, has announced plans for the 2009 event slated for Saturday, Aug. 22, and are now accepting entries.

The event is open to young ladies 10, 11 and 12 years of age, with contestants must be 10 years old by August 22, 2009, not having reached her 13th birthday by that same date.

The pageant will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, at 10 a.m. at the Rayne Civic Center. The official introduction of the new queen will be held at the 2009 Frog Festival in November.

For the contest, young ladies are asked to wear Sunday dress.
