New motion for new trial filed in Jacob Guillory case
An amended motion for a new trial has been filed again with the 13th Judicial District for a new trial in the case of the State of Louisiana vs. Jacob Guillory Jr.
Guillory’s attorney, L. Clayton Burgess asked for a new trial or to amend or vacate the sentence against Guillory, who was found guilty of shooting Caffery Scott July 20, 1985. Burgess also made a request for the initial report in this case.
Guillory’s brother, Huey, said they had asked for a new hearing in April but had heard nothing. So, he said a new motion was filed.
According to information from the district attorney’s office, the motion will be turned over to the attorney general who is handling the case. The AG’s office has handled this case for the past several years. One of the judges also received the motion, and the judge will determine when this motion will be heard.
