New Orleans wedding ceremony unites couple
Jennifer Rita Toups and Bryan Jeffrey Moody were united in marriage on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Broussard’s Restaurant in New Orleans. Reverend Donald Bohn officiated the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Floyd Toups, Jr. of Abbeville. She is the granddaughter of Rita M. Toups, the late Floyd Toups, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Nolan Becker, all of Abbeville. She is employed by the Vermilion Parish School Board.
The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Edward M. Moody, II of Rayne. He is the grandson of Edward M. Moody and the late Johanne Moody of Rayne, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Stelly of Mire. He is employed by Halliburton.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory, tea-length strapless chiffon and satin gown designed with a shirred bodice and a sweetheart neckline. A champagne satin belt with a flower broach was wrapped around the waist of the dress. Her two-layered ivory tulle veil was classic and elbow length. The bride carried a cascading bouquet of ivory roses, dendrobium orchids, and cymbidium orchids with pink centers accented with loops of bear grass and green hydrangeas. The bouquet also contained special mementos from the couple’s grandmothers.
Serving as matron of honor was Jeanette Toups Chauvin, sister of the bride. She wore an A-line, tea-length dress of peacock blue dupioni silk. Bridesmaid was Jacklyn Moody Pitts, sister of the groom, who wore an A-line, tea-length dress of Midori green dupioni silk. They each carried a bouquet of fuchsia pin cushion tropical protea, green botanic gerber daisies, and pink protea spray accented with peacock feathers.
Heidi Frederick, godchild of the bride, served as greeter of the ceremony. Jillian Moody, godchild of the groom, and Annabelle Pitts, niece of the groom, served as flower girls.
Serving as the best man was Dr. Edward M. Moody, III, brother of the groom. Collin Moody and Sebastian Pitts, nephews of the groom, served as the ring bearers. Music was provided by the groom’s father.
A reception was held in the courtyard of Broussard’s Restaurant immediately following the ceremony. After returning home from a honeymoon to the Bahamas, the couple will reside in Lafayette.
