A week full of activities will be on tap for schools across the parish — and country — for National 4-H Week, which begins today, Sunday, Oct. 6.

In Acadia Parish, the week will culminate Saturday, Oct. 12, at “Circle of 4-H Day” to be held at Redemptorist Catholic School. Festivities kick off at 8:30 a.m.

The event is open to all youth and is a chance for 4-H to promote itself and expose those interested to some of the great activities and opportunities available through the Acadia Parish 4-H Program.

Some of the activities that will be occurring Saturday includes “Exploring 4-H Through Healthy Living, Science Engineering and Technology”, “Citizenship”, “Fashion” and a dog show.

For more information on “Circle of 4-H Day”, 4-H’ers are urged to talk to their 4-H club leader.

The Acadia Parish Junior Leadership Club will make sure that fourth through eighth graders in the area have fun Saturday night as they will host a dance. The dance will be held at the 4-H office in Crowley from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Entry costs $5 per person and the event is open to those in the fourth through eighth grade, including those that are not members of 4-H.

The club invites you to bring a friend and concession money and have a great time.

The Acadia Parish 4-H Junior Leadership Club is open to all seventh through 12th grade 4-H members. Junior Leaders have fun helping younger 4-H’ers with their project work and assisting the less fortunate in their communities.

The club also participates in numerous activities where members meet and make friends with other teenagers throughout the state. It also attends an educational awards trip each summer as a reward fro its participation throughout the year.
