Barousse seeks re-election as Clerk of Court

Robert T. “Robby” Barousse has formally announced that he will be seeking re-election as Acadia Parish Clerk of Court on Saturday, Oct. 12.
“I am very humbled and honored to have served you over the past 19 years as your Clerk of Court with the assistance of my dedicated and incredible staff,” Barousse said. “As a fully Certified Clerk, I can keep abreast of changing times and serve you in the best way possible. Technology is always evolving, and it is our goal to offer public information, new and old, to the constituents of Acadia Parish, the State of Louisiana, and around the United States.
He continues: “Several big projects are ongoing to preserve and make our records accessible on our on-line service as well as on in-house public terminals. We have also joint ventured with the Acadia Parish Assessor’s Office to make public records documents pertaining to land available through the Assessor’s mapping program, which is what we consider the best in the state.
“The Clerk of Court’s Office is the central hub for working with the four main entities for the parish, those being are our office, the Sheriff’s office, the District Attorney’s office, and the Assessor’s office. Our working relationship is vital to putting the people of Acadia Parish in good hands with the best service and information possible.
“We also work closely with the Registrar of Voters office. We strive on an honest election process that starts from the Secretary of State all the way down through our office election night. Checks and balances are in place to assure the voters of Acadia Parish that there are no discrepancies whatsoever, which is peace of mind for all the voters of the parish.
“We are also able to give the public live time results election night via Cox Cable and on our website.
“With our office operating on self-generated funds, the Clerk’s Office utilizes a streamlined budget to operate from within its means. The departments within our office include the following: Administrative, Accounting, Civil, Family, Restraining and Protective Orders, Records, Marriage, Appeals, Criminal, Jury, Traffic, Juvenile, Criminal and Civil Non-support, Conveyances, Mortgages, Passport, Research, Probate, Elections, Vital Records, and scanning of all department public records currently being filed and a continuation of back scanning.
“We also work with 13 district judges from Acadia, Lafayette, and Vermilion Parishes. All these departments are handled by a mere 28 full-time employees. Multitasking with the utmost efficiency is our goal to handle the needs of our parish in an effective and cost saving measure.
“As your Clerk of Court, I have worked in all departments and understand the needs of the general public. Current and future technology as well as preserving public records, which date back to 1887 when the parish was established, are always of the utmost importance. There are also safeguards in place the help with the cyber world we live in today.
“We house the latest in reproduction and scanning equipment to give the best copies of public records of any filings one could ask for. We scan and index plats which allow anyone to locate and print in a fraction of the time thanks to this equipment and enhanced software.
“From the general public demand to those of attorney’s and abstracters, we strive to provide the most current information available daily. This is a huge benefit to everyone who needs public information.
