As of press time Tuesday, both the City of Crowley’s Witchy Way celebration  and trick-or-treating hours remained the same despite a gloomy forecast for Thursday evening.

The time for Witchy Way (the city’s Halloween celebration involving Parkerson Avenue businesses) remained from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31.

Regular trick-or-treating hours will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The time for both events is subject to change depending upon the weather.

At Notre Dame High School, however, school officials have already decided to move their annual chili cook-off and trick-or-treating activities indoors.

“We’ve moved the chili cook-off underneath the pavilion this year in case it rains,” said Notre Dame’s Louisette Broussard. “We also moved the trick-or-treating activities for the children of those who are involved in the cook-off indoors. It is now going to go from classroom to classroom.”

As for the school’s annual homecoming parade, it is set to roll as scheduled with a few changes.

“We will be having vehicles only this year,” said Broussard. “No floats and no trailers. Instead of having class floats we will decorate class cars.”

The school has also changed the parade route so as to not interfere with Witchy Way activities. The parade will now begin at the intersection of 10th Street and Parkerson Avenue. It will head north on Parkerson Avenue. It will then go right on Northern Avenue. The parade will then turn right on Eastern Avenue before coming to an end in front of the school.

The Notre Dame High homecoming parade is set to roll on Thursday beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Broussard added that any final decisions concerning the homecoming parade will be made by the end of the school day Thursday afternoon.

In Rayne, Mayor Roland Boudreaux has announced that trick-or-treating will be observed from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday (Halloween) with Fright Fest from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Rayne Civic Center.

In all other communities across Acadia, trick-or-treaing has been moved to Wednesday (today) at the following times:

• Church Point: 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

• Egan: 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
