New CEO Named at Acadia General Hospital
Lafayette General Health announced Monday Heather L. Harper as the new chief executive officer of Acadia General Hospital in Crowley, effective June 16.
Harper will oversee the transition of Acadia General Hospital from American Legion Corporation to Lafayette General Health, which signed an agreement this month to take over management of the hospital starting on June 1 (formerly American Legion Hospital).
"I am thrilled at the opportunity to join the Lafayette General Health team. I look forward to working with the physicians, nurses, staff and volunteers in Crowley to grow the quality of care provided for all of Acadia Parish,” said Harper.
Currently the chief operating officer at Southern Tennessee Medical and Emerald Hodgson Hospital in Winchester, Tennessee, Harper has extensive experience in hospital administration. She previously served as: CEO at Hillside Hospital in Pulaski, Tennessee; as CEO/administrator at Phillips County Health Systems in Phillipsburg, Kansas; and as assistant administrator/ethics compliance officer at Central Arkansas Hospital in Searcy, Arkansas.
“Heather Harper is well accomplished in hospital administration,” says Lafayette General President/CEO David L. Callecod, FACHE. “Her background makes her an ideal candidate to bring Acadia General into the culture of excellence we work so hard to cultivate within our system. I know that Heather will be an exceptional fit for the facility and will be a community leader as well.”
Harper describes her key strengths to be in management, training and problem resolution. She is a hands-on administrator who is adept in physician relations, employee morale, process improvement, implementation of new service lines and strategic planning.
Harper earned her master’s degree in health services administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Arkansas, and her bachelor’s degree in human services from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
