Police investigating Monday morning homicide

The Crowley Police Department is investigating an early Monday morning shooting which left one man dead.

The shooting occurred shortly after 2 a.m. in the 1400 block of West Northern Avenue near Buatt Street.

Crowley police along with Acadia Parish Sheriff's deputies responded to the call of shots being fired. During the investigation, it was determined that the victim was shot multiple times in the upper torso area.

The victim was transported to the Acadia General Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Police recovered multiple casings at the scene, however, no suspect has been identified as of this release.

The victim has been identified as Ryan Gums, 23, of Crowley.
