Post 77 installs Legion, Auxiliary

NEWS COVERAGE AWARD: Legionnaire Ray Olinger presented a special state award to Lisa Soileaux, assistant editor of the Rayne Acadian-Tribune during in the Legion and Ladies Auxiliary installation banquet on July 12.
AYNE - The 2014 annual installation banquet was held Saturday, July 12, for the new Legion and Auxiliary officers elected to serve Arceneaux Post for the coming term.
The regular business portion of the Legion meeting was dispensed with to commence with the installation of the incoming officers.
Commander Gene Comeaux gave a commander’s report, thanked legionnaires and helpers for their assistance during his term, and also acknowledged his family members in attendance.
Commander Comeaux called upon installing officer Larry Abshire of Post 370 to conduct the installation ceremonies.
Installed as new legion officers to serve Post 77 were: Commander David Simon, 1st Vice Commander Ray Olinger, 2nd Vice Commandver Bobby Alleman, 3rd Vice Commander Ronald Leger, Junior Post Commander Gene Comeaux, Adjutant Lee John, Chaplain Robert Comeaux, Judge Advocate Shane Mouton, Sgt.-at-Arms Andrew Habetz, Color Bearers Wilson LeDoux and Harold Arceneaux.
The open offices and advisors to the commander will be filled by the incoming commander.
Auxiliary officers installed by 7th District President Sue Hudson of Unit #551 included: President Bonnie Simon, 1st Vice Louise Thibodeaux, 2nd Vice Lena Domingue, Secretary Tammy Stevens, Treasurer Eva Privat, Historian Patsy Langlinais, Color Bearers Mary Jane Comier and Joyce Lyons, and Sgt.-at-Arms Leola Leger.
President Simon gave the president’s report, presented gifts of appreciation, and introduced family members in attendance.
Ray Olinger presented a special state award received during the State Legion Convention to the Rayne Acadian-Tribune for their appreciated coverage during the past year. In attendance to accept the plaque was Lisa Soileaux, assistant editor, Rayne Acadian-Tribune.
Introduced as special guests in attendance for the banquet were Alberta John, Unit 6720 President; Jackie Monroe, 7th District Chaplain of Unit #225; Joseph Monroe, 7th District Vice President of Post 225; and Ed Hudson, 7th District Membership Chairman of Post #551.
With the installation completed, legionnaires, auiliares and guests enjoyed a meal.
