Charlotte Castille, left, Supervisor of Special Education, Acadia Parish School Board, and Christian Doughty, Transition Coordinator, spoke to the Crowley Lions Club recently about the many programs offered by the school system to assist children with disabilities beginning at age 3 - 5 (early intervention) through high school. While Castille oversees the Special Education program, Doughty works mostly with junior high and high school students to develop work skills. Welcoming the two to the meeting is Club President Ann Mire.

Local air conditioners are no doubt working overtime due to the recent record-setting temperatures, and this sign was spotted Tuesday at the Crowley location of Dollar Tree. Earlier this week, Gov. John Bel Edwards declared a state of emergency due to the extremely high temperatures.
