Board adopts 2014 tax millages; recognizes state fair winners

From left, Arielle Johnson and Shy Vincent placed first at the state social studies fair at the elementary school level while Lilly Smith placed first at the high school level this year.

By a unanimous roll call vote, the Acadia Parish School Board adopted a resolution to adopt the millage rates for the 2014 tax year at its June meeting Monday night.

‘A new era of health care’

The new sign in front of Acadia General Hospital (AGH) was unveiled Monday morning during a ceremony in front of the hospital. Standing in front of the sign are, from left, Caroline Marceaux, AGH chief nursing officer; Charmaine Vidrine, AGH interim CEO; Dr. Cason delaHoussaye, board of directors chairman; Zach Landry, AGH administrative assistant; and David Callecod, president/CEO Lafayette General Health.

If the optimism expressed by the speakers as well as those in attendance is any indication, Monday was a big day for the people in Acadia Parish.
