The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office has added a new icon to its mobile app, one for conceal carry information (circled) to help the public better inform themselves on conceal carry laws. Downloading the app is free by simply searching your app store for “Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office”. You do not have to be a resident of Acadia Parish to download the app to obtain this important information.

This photograph shows one of the hundreds of structures in Crowley that need to be demolished. Blight is a serious problem in so many cities and Crowley is certainly no exception. But the cost of a demolition effort can be completely unaffordable to a great many property owners. At the cost of possibly thousands of dollars, a condemned structure must be torn down, its debris loaded up in a costly dumpster and hauled to the landfill, and the emptied lot must be completely cleaned up. Many families simply don’t have the money and/or know-how to get this done, so they have no choice but to leave the structure there while it continues rotting away. The City of Crowley, CAB (Citizens Against Blight), and the Crowley Post Signal continue to work together to call attention to this problem. Fortunately, the Louisiana Community Development Block Grant office recently began offering federal funding to help address this dilemma. Through this program, owners of dilapidated structures may be eligible to have the city handle the entire demolition effort and cost. Members of CAB are assisting the city in preparing the required grant application.
