Rayne child hit on Boulevard during Friday accident

In an attempt to cross The Boulevard near Rayne City Hall, a child was struck by a vehicle Friday afternoon, Jan. 15, 2016.

UPDATE: Child found safely

UPDATE: Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office announces that the missing 4-year-old child has been located and is safe.
According to a Nixle alert from the sheriff's office, authorities are searching for a 4-year-old child taken early Friday morning.

Mardi Gras time is here, local events planned

The official start of the 2016 Mardi Gras season began this week on the Twelfth Night of Christmas, Jan. 6, and will last until Mardi Gras Day or “Fat Tuesday” on Feb. 9, the day before Ash Wednesday.
During that time, a number of Mardi Gras events, programs, parades and balls will be held and enjoyed by all.
