Thursday afternoon close call for family

Due to brisk afternoon winds and the saturated ground resulting from recent rains, a large tree fell across a mobile home located on the 500 block of Section Street Thursday afternoon, trapping six people inside. All occupants, four adults and two children, were rescued from the mobile home, examined and released. Assisting with the rescue were members of the Rayne Police Department, Rayne Volunteer Fire and Rescue, and Acadian Ambulance.
