Northeast Eagles defeat Parkview Vikings 35-7

Coach Dave Masterson and his Northeast Vikings opened district 8-3A play last week against the defending Class 3A State Champion Parkview Baptist Eagles. In the first half, the Vikings went toe-to-toe with the Eagles but then Parkview’s massive Offensive Line began to wear down the Vikings and Parkview went on to earn a 35-7 win over the Vikings.

Northeast came out the gate smoking as they made a huge scoring play in the early part of the ball game. Jarvis Houston and Michael McKnight hooked up on a 83-yard touchdown connection and with the Craig Johnson PAT, Northeast led 7-0 in the first quarter.

The Vikings played disciplined defense in the first half and trailed only 14-7 at halftime but the Eagles began to pull away in the third quarter by scoring two unanswered touchdowns and then added a touchdown in the fourth quarter to win the game 35-7 over the Vikings.

Northeast will hit the road this week as they travel to take on the West Feliciana Saints. West Feliciana fell to Redemptorist last week 20-6 as both teams are searching for their first district win of the season.
