Northeast Homecoming Victory!
The Northeast Vikings stayed alive in the district 8-3A hunt last week with a big 27-0 shutout win over the Baker Buffalos. Northeast improved to 4-3 overall with their win over Baker and 1-1 in district play.
The Vikings led 15-0 at halftime and played sound on both sides of the ball. However the game between the Vikings and Buffalos was marred with penalties and mistakes. Northeast was penalized twelve times for 101-yards and the Buffalos were flagged eight times for seventy-two yards.
Northeast got on the board in the first quarter when Darren Ellis scored on a 48-yard run to give the Vikings a 6-0 lead. Northeast would hold that lead as the teams went into the second quarter.
Ellis would then help extend the Vikings lead when he scored on an 11-yard run to make the score 12-0 in favor of Northeast. The Vikings closed the first half with a 30-yard field goal from Craig Johnson to claim a 15-0 halftime lead over the visiting Baker Buffalos.
The Vikings Offense had a good night against Baker as they paved the way for 300-yards of total offense including 229-yards rushing. Baker struggled to move the ball against the Vikings.
Baker finished the game with just 101-yards of total offense and did not score a point in their loss to Northeast. The Vikings got two more scores in the second half. Jarvis Houston scored on a three-yard run and Darren Holes added a one-yard run and Northeast went on to win the game 27-0.
The Vikings entertain the Redemptorist Wolves this Friday Night. The Wolves are coming off a 24-13 loss to the Capitol Lions. Baker falls to 1-5 overall and 0-3 in district 8-3A play. Baker is back at home this week as well as they play host to the #1 ranked and defending state champion Parkview Baptist Eagles.
