Northside rolls past Assembly Christian
CROWLEY – The Northside Christian Warriors rallied from an early two-run deficit, scoring five runs in the final six innings to upend Assembly Christian of New Iberia, 5-2, Thursday at Miller Stadium.
The victory was Northside’s sixth straight and eighth in nine games. The Warriors are now 9-4 overall and 3-0 in District 7-C play.
Assembly Christian jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning following a two-out NCS error. Zackary Prevost made the Warriors pay with a two-run single one batter later.
Northside responded with one run in the second before taking a 3-2 lead in the fourth.
The Warriors added two insurance runs, scoring once in the fifth and once in the sixth inning.
Eight of Northside’s nine starters logged hits in the game. Pierce Rivera led the Warriors with two hits and an RBI while Joe Trahan, Bradley Ancelet and Nick Gotte each had one hit and drove in a run. Tim Monte, Cameron Williams, Josh Wheeler and Jeremy Marceaux each had one hit.
Marceaux earned the victory on the mound, giving up two unearned runs on two hits and six walks. He struck out 11 in seven innings.
Prevost was tagged with the loss, allowing five runs on nine hits and four walks in six innings.
Northside will travel to Baton Rouge Tuesday to take on Family Christian at 4 o’clock.
