Notre Dame swim team earns honors

Notre Dame’s swim team, coached by Jenny Didier, made a huge splash at the Small School District Championships held at the Earl J. Chris Natatorium in the Robichaux Recreation Center in Lafayette recently, placing second overall.

Also participating in the championships were Sacred Heart High School of Shreveport, ESA, Berwick, Academy of the Sacred Heart, Ascension Episcopal School, Patterson, Vinton, Catholic High of New Iberia, North Vermillion, CCHS, Welsh, Westminster, Opelousas Catholic and Mamou.

The team of Adrienne Dailey, Rebecca Didier, Leah Lapointe, Lori Lapointe, Ali Leboeuf, Hannah Simon, Jenna Smith and Becky Whiting dove in to place fourth in the girls’ division.

The team of Ben Baker, Connor Broussard, John Dailey, Bryant Hamic, Kegan Lepretre, Matt Reed, Adam Reggie and Zach Trahan took second spot in the boys’ division.

The relay teams made waves as Becky Whiting, Alli Leboeuf, Rebecca Didier and Hannah Simon placed third in the girls 200 yard medley relay, while Matt Reed, John Dailey, Kegan Lepretre, and Adam Reggie teamed up to place second in the boys 200 yard medley relay.

Placing fourth in the girls 200 yard freestyle relay event were Ali Lebeouf, Hannah Simon, Lori Lapointe and Rebecca Didier.

An impressive team of seniors, Connor Broussard, Bryant Hamic, Ben Baker and Kegan Lepretre, placed second in the boys 200 free relay. Taking first in the boys 400 freestyle relay event was the team of Connor Broussard, Ben Baker, Bryant Hamic and Adam Reggie.

In individual events, drenching the competition to place first in the boys 100 yard butterfly was Ben Baker.

In the boys 500 freestyle, the number one spot was occupied by Adam Reggie.

Also, Connor Broussard placed second in the boys 100 freestyle event; Adam Reggie swam a second place finish in the boys 200 yard freestyle and Kegan Lepretre placed third in the boys 200 IM.

Placing third in the Girls 100 backstroke was Ali Lebeouf, while Matt Reed placed fourth in the boys division of that same event.

Bryant Hamic and John Dailey picked up fourth place honors with Bryant in the boys 50 yard freestyle event and John in the boys 100 yard breaststroke.

Notre Dame’s Ben Baker, Connor Broussard, Bryant Hamic, Kegan Lepretre and Adam Reggie were all named to the All District Team following the 2009 championships.
