MAMOU - Funeral services were held for Renee West, 50, of Ville Platte, the former Renee Soileau, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou at 1 p.m., Friday, January 23. Burial followed in the New St. Ann’s Cemetery.
A native of Mamou, Mrs. West died Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at her residence.
Survivors include her husband, Gorden Lee West of Ville Platte; her father and step-mother, Wilfred “Brud” Soileau Jamie Lynn Soileau of Mamou; her mother, Shelbur Young Manuel, both of Mamou; three adopted sons, John Fontenot of Colorado and Lee Fontenot and Shane Fontenot, both of Mamou; three adopted daughters, Mary Fontenot, Joy Fontenot and Emmy Fontenot, all of Mamou; three brothers, Jody Soileau and his wife, Veronica, of Mamou, Ryan Soileau and his wife, Lorilie, of Shreveport and Michael Soileau of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; three sisters, Rhonda Ardoin and her husband, Brent, and Elizabeth Mayeaux and her husband, Wesley, all of Mamou, and Tasha Sylvester and her husband, Richard, of Ville Platte; and 16 grandchildren.
Father Bryce Sibley officiated.

GILBERT L. FONTENOT SR.

Funeral services will be held for Gilbert L. Fontenot Sr., 87, of Ville Platte, at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte at 2 p.m., today, January 25. Burial will follow in the M.B. Fontenot Cemetery.
Mr. Fontenot died at 9:11 p.m., Thursday, January 22, 2009, at Ville Platte Medical Center.
Survivors include two sons, Gilbert Fontenot Jr. of Ville Platte and Earl Ricky Fontenot of Michigan; one daughter, Rita Gayle Fontenot Chaffin of Pine Prairie; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Father Gene Tremie will officiate.
